| asta-sakhis |
the principal eight dedicated and beloved cowherd s
(gopis) who serve Srimati Radharani. They are Lalita, Visakha, Campaklata, Tungavidya, Indulckha, Rangadevi and
Sudevi. |
asta-sattvika- vikara | eight varieties of ecstatic symptoms manifest by pure devotees, and sometimes even Lord Krsna Himself, while informing their pastimes. They are paralysis, perspiration,
horripilation (goosebumps), loss of voice, trembling, devastation (swooning), pallor and crying. |
asvamedha atma-nivedana |
a Vedic ritualistic sacrifice.
the surrender of the soul to the Lord or His representative,
the guru; one of the nine principal limbs of devotional
service. |

the self-satisfied transcendentalists who have surpassed material nature; even such liberated persons are attracted to the

What about the seer? What about you? This is the crux of the matter. Even if scientists can determine how electrochemical impulses translate into such varying forms as a golden sunset, a red truck, or a flower, the main question still remains: Where is the self who is looking at those forms and images? What is this self made of? In what part of the body or brain is it? In other words: What is your essence, and where are you?
